SPD: Baby Shower Motorcycle

Hey Dolls!
It's Thursday, so that means its Saw it, Pinned it, Did it Day.

Since I like to be all Martha-Stewarty, I did it for a recent shower.

Original pin here.
She gives really good instructions and pictures.
So here is my tutorial:
(I will never make another board like that again. It took entirely way too long.
Koodos to yall that do them everyday!)
Ingredients:
1. 34 Pampers (17 per wheel)
2.  Two Rubber Bands
3. Two inch ribbon
4. Pins
5. Two Recieving blankets
6. Two bibs
7. One wash cloth
8. One bottle
9. Teething ring
10. A pair of socks
11. Stuffed animal

Directions:
First off, you obviously want to color cooridante every thing.

Place 17 of the diapers in an 8" cake pan.

Stick your rubber band around it and
the wrap ya some ribbon around and pin it.
Do this twice. This is your wheel, Duh.

Roll a blanket lengthwise.
Run it through the middle of the FRONT tire.

Wrap it around to the BACK tire and tuck it in. (I even pinned it)

Take the second blanket, rolled of course,
and run it through the middle of the FRONT tire.

Pin the bibs on top of the wheels.

Wrap a washcloth around the bottle.(This makes the headlight)
Pull the blanket up and slide the teething ring down
until it's snug against the headlight.

Stick some tissue paper in the socks and
pull them onto the blanket. (This makes handlebars)

Stick the driver on and its ready to go!

If any of these steps is confusing, go to Sweet Aprils blog for a mucho
better explanation.
If you end up doing this let me know!!

Skin Care

My home girl fran Ashley posted about her skin regimine a few
weeks ago, so today Im following suit.

This is something that has become very important to me.
The older I get and the more wrinkles I see the more I become fixated
on what my face is going to look like later on down the road.
I started worrying about wrinkles when I was in high school.
 Seriously.
I must have not been worrying too much since I was still baking away in the tanning bed.
So over the past ten years, Ive tried out all kinds of stuff.
Heres what I do as of now.

NEVER EVER do I sleep in my makeup.
I can count on one hand how many times I have EVER "forgotten" to take it off.

I take my eye makeup off with a cotton ball and baby lotion or vaseline
(tonight I used olive oil and it worked great!).

I take my makeup off with St Ives Apricot Scrub.

I then use Philosophy's Purity with my Clarisonic Mia.
Im a bandwagon jumper, and Im soooo glad I jumped on the Mia wagon.
 #lurveit.
I like to take my makeup off before I wash with my mia. I feel like the brush gets dirtier if I dont. And I want those freakin million dolla brush heads to last at least 3 months!
 (which is the recommended time)

Follow up with a little wrinkle cream.
Im currently loving Keihl's anti-wrinkle cream that I got from Birchbox.
It's definitely a repurchase.

And that my dolls, is my night time skin care reigmine.

*Im always on the hunt for something new, so if you have
any suggestions, throw them my way!! Especially what to do
for my AM regimine

January Favorites

How cute is this packaging??
Seriously!
I recieved this eyeshadow in My Glam Bag last month and I have been using ever since.
This shade is perfect for a smoky eye look, just in the crease, or even as an eyeliner.
Im heading over to their website after this post.
The Balm has officially stolen my big 'ol southern girl heart!
I have put down the famous High Beam from Benefit and Mary-Lou has taken its place.
I use her as a highlighter or as a shadow.
The Balm has some VERY good prices too!
I haven't seen this line at Sephora, and Im not sure Ulta carries it either. But check out the website.
You will love the packaging and names of all the products!
This Amika hair oil treatment I recieved sometime last year in my Birchbox.
The little sample I got lasted me a pretty good while.
But like all good things, it came to an end.
I love this stuff because it smell soooo good. So summery and tropical.
A little bit goes a long way.
It doesn't weigh my thick hair down AT.ALL!
I can't tell you how much I love this smell. I would seriously lather it all over me
and lick it off if I could.
I probably would..... if it didn't cost 34 dollhairs!!
Ain't nobody got time fo that!
The only reason I purchased a full size bottle was because I had some birchbox points.
And this bottle will last me a good year and a half, if I don't share it.

Another Birchbox find.
This AMAZING Lip Quench can be found at the Dermstore
for a whopping 12 dollhairs!
When my tube runs dry (I've had it a few months and Im still going strong) I'll definitely
be making a repurchase.
Girls, this stuff is like BUTTAH!
Better.
Smells like heavenly almonds.
Its not glossy. Sooooo moisturizing. My dry lips cry for this stuff. Its in my
pockets 24/7.
*True Story: I had it in my purse one day, driving down the road and my purse spills over.
Well this stuff fell between my seats. I would not settle for chap stick.
I pulled my car over and searched for Miss Lip Quench.
Do your lips a favor and buy some. STAT.
Bath and Body Works has done it again.
This reminds me of a man's perfume that I LOOOOVE.
You know that perfume that everytime you smell it, it gets you a little happy inside?? You know what I mean?
I can't think of the name of it.
I want to walk around the house with my nose in it.
And I just screamed a little when I saw online they have the wallflower scent.
Holla!!

So there's what Im lurving this month.

Especially loving these two

Peace out Sistas. Happy Sunday

**PS- All opinions are my own. I was not compensated for these reviews. Just my love of makeup and all things girly.

No bake energy balls

I posted this picture on my instagram (jennybethk) the other day and got a few request for the recipe.

Since we are giving this Yeats free diet a try, Jess and I were DYING for something sweet. I'm talking about on the verge of eating my arm off.
So I took to pinterest for some yeast free sweets and came across this pin.

Ingredients:
1 cup of oats
1/2 cup almond butter
1/3 raw honey
1 cup unsweetened shredded coconut
1/2 cup flax seed
1/2 cup semi sweet chocolate mini chips

Mix all ingredients and refrigerate for 20 mins to harden up. Form into balls and it's ready to go!
Total cost was $15
*I doubled this recipe and it was gone in one day!! Seriously so good.

And since it's Thursday, Im linking up with Mrs. Yeast Free herself.

Peace out

Wife Lessons: check your pockets

I usually never check pockets. One, because I know I never keep anything in them, two, because if there is something in there I usually find it as I'm throwing stuff in the washer.
Not this time.
My last day of clinically, I find a rotten banana *gag* in my bag. I had a load of whites piling up so I throw my lab coat in. (A load of whites usually consist of my socks and sports bras, my thin old navy jacket I wear in the OR, and Jess' socks.) when I pull them out to put them in the dryer I find my bandage scissors in the washer. I think to myself, " that would have made a terrible noise if that ended up in the dryer. Good thing I found them!" The dryer buzzes and I pull out my load of zebra stripes whites. I had left a freaking PERMANENT MARKER in my lab coat! I was sooooo pissed of! So not only do I have to replace my $40 lab coat, I can't wear my white sports bra with a white t-shirt! AND my dryer is marked up. So I do what I always do, I put my 'zebra striped OR jacket' on and let everyone get a good ol laugh at me. Everyone told me to try acetone fingernail polish remover to get the marks off before I try another load. It didn't take the marks off, it just smeared it. So I washed and dried Jess' uniforms a couple of times to 'set' the marks and keep hem from transferring onto other clothes. So far so good. I just have a dryer that looks like it went to war with a sharpie.

Lesson learned, Ladies.

Behind the Mask

I decided to link up with Renee at Wont Hurt a Bit and Nurse Kitty at RN:Real Newbie for Medical Monday. This post is going to give y'all a little more insight on how I make my money for my honey.

I'm a scrub tech, surgical technologist, OR nurse, surgeons assistant, whatever you want to call it. I do surgery. More specifically, back and brain surgery.  I work with the same doctor in the same OR with the same staff everyday.  When you work with someone 8-12 hours a day Three days a week, you kind of become a family and we fight and argue like family too.

My surgery day is usually really laid back. Would you believe that we jam out to The Red Hot Chili Peppers on Pandora everyday while we operate?! Our conversations range from religion to movies to crazy patients to our personal lives..

Before I became a scrub, I had no idea what went on in surgery or how it even happened. So if you don't know, I'm about to fill you in. (All of my info is based on my hospital and how I do things my way. This may vary at other places.)
The OR team consist of  4-5 people: Anesthesiologist or CRNA, Circulating nurse, 2 scrubs, And your surgeon.
We get the room ready for your surgery. Gathering equipment and supplies. Then we set up the field. This means that everything we will use to operate with is sterile and clean. One scrub will pass the instruments during the case while the other scrub assist the surgeon. Both positions are equally important. A good scrub knows what the doctor wants before he knows he wants it.
We are with our patient from the time they come through the door until the time they roll out of the door. Not only do I help the surgeon during the surgery, I help anesthesia if they need it.
Its a very interesting job to say the least. Especially the cases I see on call.

As of this past summer I officially started nursing school. Im currently in my first semester. I will finally be through May 2014.... Three semesters left to go!!
